Honoring Elaine: A Fundraiser Through Her Jewelry

This fundraiser is a way to remember her —
and to keep her spirit moving forward.

Elaine Hale was a woman of bold spirit and boundless energy. She played the trumpet—not because it was expected, but precisely because it wasn’t “girlie.” She thrived in the pool as a distance swimmer and, later in life, pushed her limits in ultramarathon cycling. She was competitive in the best way—disciplined, driven, and always aiming to go farther.

She lived by the words of Mother Teresa:

“Give your hands to serve and your heart to love.”

And she did. For decades, Elaine poured her time into her community—tutoring children, launching a bicycle safety program, even handmaking vaccine reminder postcards for parents. She served as PTA president and went on to lead at the county, state, and national levels, including presidencies of the Orange County Medical Society Alliance, the Florida Medical Association Alliance, and the Southern Medical Association Auxiliary. She served on committees for the AMA Alliance and AHEI. Her work reached thousands and earned the admiration of hundreds.

Friends called her “a firecracker”—full of ideas, laughter, and generosity. Her humor lit up every room. Her loyalty and drive lifted everyone around her.

Elaine’s jewelry was more than an ornament. Each piece told a story - of a moment, a memory, or a spark of joy.

Now, as we raffle off pieces from her beloved collection, generously donated by her spouse, Dr. Steve Hale, we invite you to carry forward her legacy. Proceeds will go toward causes she cared about and championed so fiercely.

On a friend's desk still sits a plaque Elaine once gifted, bearing the words that guided her life:

“Work like you don’t need the money.”

Elaine worked, lived, and loved with everything she had.
