Community Service Committee of the American
Medical Association Medical Student Section

The AMA Medical Student Section received our 2025 AHEI Grant support for their program, “Street, Supply & Serve”. The students will gather at the AMA Annual Meeting in June to prepare 160 kits that will be handed out by the Night Ministry, a street medicine organization serving people living on the streets of Chicago. Supplies will include: socks, underwear, toothbrushes/toothpaste, body wipes, shampoo/ conditioner, first aid kits, Vaseline, Advil packets, winter gloves, and Benadryl.

Community Care Clinics
Maumee, Ohio

The Community Care Clinics received our 2025 AHEI Grant for their “What to Know” program addressing issues affecting the Toledo Area Outreach program. This special program is targeting underserved individuals at high risk for preventable infections, including syphilis and bloodborne pathogens. This program includes education on preventable diseases. The packets will also include Narcan, Fentanyl test strips, sterile bandages, alcohol wipes, hand sanitizers, lubricants, condoms, dental dams, water bottles, liquid IV, facial wipes, and bags for contents.

Access for All Mobile Retina Clinic
Erie, Pennsylvania

The Erie, Pennsylvania Mobile Retina Clinic received our 2025 AHEI Grant for its “Access for All”. This clinic will provide Vision Wellness Kits to people unable to obtain routine vision care. The kits will include magnifying glasses, penlight for reading, UV-blocking sunglasses, an Amsler Grid page to detect AMS symptoms (early detection of central vision/ macular degeneration/or other retinal conditions), sugar-free Emergen-C packets, plastic eye models, and educational printouts describing eye disease.

Nueces County Medical Society Alliance
Corpus Christi, Texas

The NCMS Alliance received this year’s AHEI Grant for their Healthy Habits for our School Program”, which serves TG Allen Elementary School. Ninety-eight percent of the students attending the school come from low-income households. The students often lack basic hygiene supplies. The Alliance will supply toothpaste and toothbrushes, shampoo, lice shampoo, body wash, deodorant, maxi pads, baby wipes, socks, underwear, and children’s books to families. In addition to providing hygiene products and books, physician and spouse members will read books to the students.

SWI Industrial Solutions Workshop
Springfield, Missouri

The SWI Industrial Solutions Workshop received the AHEI 2025 Grant for their “Health Aid for Employees First Aid Program.” SWI is a non-profit, light manufacturing facility that hires individuals with developmental disabilities to assemble various products. Their First Aid Program kits will include: Band-Aids, gauze, antiseptic spray, Coban wraps, surgical tape, first aid boxes, gauze scissors, Isopropyl prep pads, elastic tourniquets, instant cold packs, and latex gloves for the three facilities they operate.
